Welcome!

Deploying as a parent was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. The pull between wanting to be the best leader I could be and the best parent I could be was relentless. Developing a network of parents going through the same experience was crucial.

This book is the result of one such partnership. Together we talked about how it was important to us to show our boys that their moms could do hard things. We wanted our children to be proud of us and proud of the military’s service to our nation.

My friend went on to command several Coast Guard cutters. I went on to write this book.

My goal was to honor and celebrate other Coast Guard moms and showcase as many ratings and jobs as I could. My hope is that you and your children read this book and see yourselves somewhere in these pages and know that you are appreciated!
